Open the Blinds
In the midst of mental turmoil, we often become blind to the beauty around us. It can be a comfort to remember that even as everything in our lives comes crashing down, at least we can look at the mountains, and, maybe for a moment, get lost in the feeling of awe. But on the other hand, sometimes it is far worse to experience pain when surrounded by such wonders, as if its consistent beauty if taunting us. When we look up from our cluttered desks in our dark rooms, is it possible to choose how we will feel about the view outside, or are we at the mercy of both nature and our own minds?

The Graduate
"The Graduate" is the end, the culmination of the college experience. Uncertainty and confusion command the frame, while the future speeds toward us, faster and faster. Nothing to ground us or hold us down, we are released into the stratosphere, where on Earth will we find ourselves?

Boone Housing Blues
Finding housing in Boone is challenging regardless of if you are searching on or off campus. Almost every student has a story about their struggles with the local real estate market. The house my roommates and I rent currently is perfect in many ways- it's in a walkable location, has wonderful outdoor space, and allows us to have cats. It is also nearly a hundred years old, which presents issues that we are not capable of fixing as tenants. One of these is a deep mold and fungus problem in the walls and ceiling of our bathroom that our landlord has neglected to fix. These prints depict three of the unique designs created by the mold's natural growth. I believe a sense of humor is important when dealing with the challenging and frustrating, which is why I created this piece exploring how this particular misfortune is also strangely beautiful.

Mushroom Trees
This was the first piece I made here at App. I made it a few months ago and it was my first time using wood and even making a 3D piece. Mushrooms grow in very odd places, and I've definitely grown a lot (in odd places) since being here.

i am everything from everyone i've ever loved
My artwork is an ever-evolving showcase of my growth as a person. A large part of my art focuses on the intersectionality between my identity as a queer person and my religious upbringing along with other themes such as change within people and the human experience as a whole. While it's important for me to reflect on my experiences of the past, I think it is just as important to highlight the overwhelming feelings of joy I experience in my life. While originally I focused on the use of two-dimensional mediums, I have begun to experiment with materials outside of my comfort zone in order to create stronger expressions of my emotions and experiences.
