Belk Library

Appalachian State University's Queer Film Series (QFS) began in 2000 when Dr. Kim Hall and Dr. Sandie Gravett decided to create a film festival that honored National Coming Out Day (October 11th). The film festival continues on an annual basis to this day, but the location of the festival has fluctuated throughout the years. Screenings of the QFS initially began in Plemmons Student Union, but the festival outgrew the 50-seat venue within two years, and the 75-seat Greenbriar Theater only sufficed for four. In 2006, Room 114 of ASU's Belk Library became the home of the QFS, where students continue to enjoy the festival into the modern day.
